Kuberikan Diriku Padanya
Karya: Emily Dickinson
KUBERIKAN diriku padanya,
Dan ia sendiri jadi bayarannya.
Sah sudah perjanjian khidmat
Kehidupan melalui jalan ini.
Harta mungkin bawa kecewa,
Akulah bukti kurang memadai
Ketimbang sangka pembeli agung,
milik Cinta sehari-hari.
Menyusut sudah daya pandang;
Namun, hingga pedagang membeli,
masih dongeng, dan di gugusan pulau rempah
tersimpan muatan minyak wangi.
Paling tidak, itu risiko bersama, —
Ada yang menyebutnya keuntungan bersama;
Hutang Hayat manis, —tiap malam diutang,
Gulung tikar, setiap siang.

I Gave Myself to Him
By: Emily Dickinson
I GAVE myself to him,
And took himself for pay.
The solemn contract of a life
Was ratified this way.
The wealth might disappoint,
Myself a poorer prove
Than this great purchaser suspect,
The daily own of Love
Depreciate the vision;
But, till the merchant buy,
Still fable, in the isles of spice,
The subtle cargoes lie.
At least, ’t is mutual risk,—
Some found it mutual gain;
Sweet debt of Life,—each night to owe,
Insolvent, every noon.
