Translators of Tagore's "Gitanjali" (1914-2019)

Gitanjali (Song Offerings) (1912), the 1913 Nobel Prize-winning work in Literature by Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), India's leading poet, has been translated into many languages around the world.

The following is a short list consisting of the names of the target languages, names of the translators, titles of the translations, and years of publication of the various "Gitanjali" translations.

  2. French translation by André Gide: L'offrande lyrique (1917)
  3. German translation by Kurt Wolff: Gitanjali (Sangesopfer) (1914)
  4. Indonesian translation by Saut Pasaribu: Kidung Persembahan (2000)
  5. Italian translation by P.M. Rigon: Canti di offerta (1999)
  6. Malay translation by A. Latiff Mohidin: Gitanjali (1987)
  7. Portuguese translation by Rafael Arrais: Oferenda Lírica (2014)
  8. Romanian translation by George Ulieru: Prinos de cantece (2019)
  9. Russian translation by Boris Pasternak: Gitanjali (1950-1960)
  10. Spanish translation by Juan Ramón Jiménez and Zenobia Camprubí Aymar: Ofrenda lírica (1918)
